The hydrolates, also known as floral waters or aromatic waters, are the result of steam distillation of aromatic plants. During this process, two products are obtained: the essential oil and the distilled water with water-soluble active ingredients, which is the hydrolate.
Unlike essential oils, hydrosols are mild, watery, and can be applied directly to the skin. They preserve the aroma and part of the therapeutic properties of the plant of origin.
